are several drawbacks in Higgins’s character
Professor
Henry Higgins has many-sided personality, having high merits and irritating deficiencies.
He is a scholar of great distinction who has high merits besides having draw
backs. He has not good opinion about women that is why still he is bachelor
and lives a life as a single .In professor’s opinion woman wants to live her
own way and man wants his own way. Each tries to drag the other on to the
wrong track. Despite of all that he wants to do experiment on poor flower
girl to transform her into a duchess.
Mrs. Pearce,
maid servant, points out several drawbacks which she finds mistakes in
learning process. She argues it wouldn’t be benefited in learning for Miss Doolittle. On breakfast he does things which are
objectionable and hindrances in learning process for Miss Doolittle. She also
states that he uses wrong words on irritating. He is short temper. He excuses
that next time he will take care as such things can be harmful in elegant
language and sober manners for a sophisticated lady of high rank.
Mrs. Higgins,
professor’s mother views there are several things which are objectionable in
Higgins. Whenever he is pondering or worry about any things he begins
rattling keys and coins in his pocket. Mrs. Higgins forbids him as it is awkward
for the guests she had invited. Due to such things she has stopped him not to
come on the day when she is with her guests at home. She thinks he will do something
which her guests don’t like.
Even after
getting success exposing a s a duchess Liza points out weak points which she
noticed during her learning. In the end she says it on Higgins’s face. Higgins
realizes that he had made Liza a duchess in real.
